FlyPix AI Maps Palm Trees in Tonga for Carbon Credit Estimation
Tongatapu, Tonga, November 4, 2025: FlyPix AI worked with UNOOSA/UN-SPIDER to map palm trees across Tongatapu using deep learning and high-resolution satellite imagery.
The project created a reliable vegetation inventory to support carbon-credit estimation, greenhouse-gas reporting, and sustainable land-use planning. A model trained on Airbus Pleiades Neo imagery achieved 94.7% mAP50, and the resulting island-wide dataset was provided to Tonga’s climate authorities.
FlyPix AI’s ORION Find Similar technology reduced annotation time by approximately 97% compared with traditional workflows, demonstrating a scalable approach that can be adapted for other islands and countries.
